About The Position

Our client, a multidisciplinary AECM firm with a strong east coast presence, is looking to hire a Office Engineer. This would be a full-time, direct-hire position working for their firm, based in the Princeton / South Jersey area. This role will also require travel to worksites as needed. The Office Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring accurate project documentation, contractor coordination, and compliance tracking. This individual will act as a key liaison between field operations and project management, supporting efficient project execution. Former senior construction inspectors who are looking to transition into or expand their office-based responsibilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in coordinating highway maintenance programs and field operations.
  • At least 2 years of office engineering experience including documentation management, reporting, and contractor coordination.
  • At least 2 years of road/bridge construction inspection experience.
  • Strong understanding of NJ DOT or NJ Transit protocols is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Primavera, Procore, or similar) is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a senior construction inspector transitioning into engineering/administrative project support roles.
  • Familiarity with field-to-office workflows, especially for transportation projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination and documentation of highway maintenance and infrastructure construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project records including RFIs, submittals, change orders, contractor correspondence, and daily reports.
  • Review inspection reports and provide quality control to ensure compliance with design documents and standards.
  • Track project progress, assist with schedule management, and generate weekly or monthly reporting for internal and client use.
  • Support engineers and project managers in processing estimates and verifying quantities.
  • Facilitate communication between contractors, engineers, and state agencies to resolve technical or logistical issues promptly.
