About The Position

Synopsis The Asset Renewal O ffi ce Engineer reports to the Asset Renewal Program Manager and will oversee the administr at ive processes and construc ti on requirements of mul ti ple small projects at the same ti me. The Asset Renewal Program replaces end-of-life airport assets, primarily MEP fi re and security systems, ver ti cal and horizontal transporta ti on systems, building enclosure assemblies, below-grade u ti lity systems, baggage systems, and passenger boarding bridges.

Requirements

  • Pro fi cient in Microso ft O ffi ce Suite and Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with Project Management Informa ti on Systems
  • Ability to work in CAD or REVIT a plus
  • Excellent knowledge and pro fi ciency in Microso ft O ffi ce and management so ft ware (able to create logs, charts, etc.).
  • 10 years or more experience in managing the design of small and medium complex building projects, ut il it ies and infrastructure improvements, preferably on airport projects.
  • Experience with projects more than $25 million in value.
  • Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build.
  • Excellent wri tt en and oral communica ti on skills and a thorough knowledge of industry prac ti ces and regul at ions.
  • Must have a self-starter a tti tude with proac ti ve, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume addi ti onal responsibili ti es.
  • Must be able to interface with a variety of people with di ff erent technical levels and educa ti onal backgrounds.
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Bachelors or masters degree in architecture, Engineering, and/or related industry experience.
  • May assume other du ti es as required/needed.
  • May be required to work past regular work shift.
  • This is NOT a work from home posi ti on.
  • This is a Monday-Friday full- ti me posi ti on in the o ffi ce or on the project site at LAX.
  • A ft er hours or weekend work may be required to perform the du ti es of the posi ti on.
  • Day ti me hours will be adjusted as required.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with the design and construc ti on industries, administra ti ve processes and requirements.
  • Must have experience with payment applica ti ons, including quan ti ty dispute resolu ti on.
  • Must have excellent skills in documenta ti on and fi le organiza ti on and maintenance.
  • Experience reviewing and responding to RFIS.
  • Experience reviewing submi tt als for compliance with the Contract Documents and.
  • Experience and pro fi cient in reading design drawings and speci fi ca ti ons.
  • Able to communicate and interact with the other members of the Asset Renewal team and LAWA departments, City Dept.s., contractors and Airlines.
  • Available to work modi fi ed schedule as construc ti on ac ti vi ti es require.
  • Experience with star ti ng up a project and on boarding the contractor or design-builders.
  • Experience closing out projects, including: opera ti ons and maintenance manuals, payment releases, punch-list documenta ti on and closeout, fi nal pay applica ti ons, warranty and training requirements, etc.
  • May be called upon to take mee ti ng-minutes and distribute to a tt endees.
  • Support the Construc ti on Manager and Program Manager in other tasks and du ti es.
  • Experience construc ti ng work on an occupied and opera ti ng campus.
  • Coordinate and implement Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), and U ti lity Shutdown Requests (USRs).
  • Should have experience working on phased and complex Public Agency projects in an occupied s ett ing.
