About The Position

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a talented Office Director to lead our San Antonio, TX operation of approximately 40 staff. This candidate will bring unique people and organizational leadership to SWCA by championing the organizational culture, enabling excellence, and driving the talent strategy. Primary Duties include leading the strategic direction of the office, financial performance, business and client development, staff management, and technical quality, while ensuring the cross-collaboration and alignment needed to support the achievement of SWCA goals for our San Antonio, Texas office. In addition, we are looking for business acumen- being able to apply knowledge of our business and marketplace to advance the organization's goals, be able to develop our people to meet both their career goals as well as the organization's goals, and to create a climate where people are motivated to bring their best work to help the organization to grow and prosper. This is a regular status (with benefits), full-time, salaried position reporting to the Central Texas Vice President. This is a hybrid-based position and pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience. Please submit a letter of interest and resume to be considered for this position . Requirements

  • Please submit a letter of interest/cover letter to be considered for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the environmental services that SWCA generally provides, including (but not limited to) biology, archaeology, anthropology, planning, environmental regulatory compliance, GIS, hydrology, and other environmental and planning fields.
  • Twelve (12) years of cumulative experience in environmental and/or cultural resource management consulting, overseeing fieldwork and report completion, supervising, and mentoring professional and administrative staff, as well as scheduling and budgeting of projects.
  • Five (5) years of experience in increasing levels of responsibility in organizational leadership, including supervising and providing leadership for other professionals.
  • Demonstrated business development success and consulting acumen, including substantial established credibility with federal and state reviewing agencies and clients, as well as success in proposal writing.
  • Deep knowledge of, and experience in, the environmental and cultural compliance market in the San Antonio, TX area and surrounding vicinity.
  • Team-orientated attitude with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to foster a friendly, positive, productive, and scholarly working relationship with team members.
  • Proven success of leading a team of environmental and/or cultural resource professionals.
  • Ability to travel as needed, for an estimated 25% of the time.
  • Applicants must have valid driver's license and be able to meet SWCA's driver requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • This is a preferred office-based or hybrid position, requiring between 3-5 days on site with employees to accomplish business goals.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental, natural and/or cultural resources.
  • Solid understanding of financial metrics, completing a business plan, and implementing the plan.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a large, diverse, multi-discipline team of natural and cultural resource scientists, project managers, and technical experts specializing in local, state, and federal regulatory permitting.
  • Be responsible for the planning, monitoring, and ongoing sustainment of the financial success of the office. This entails monitoring and adjusting to weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial information and KPIs as well as assisting in the development of yearly business plans and quarterly forecasting.
  • Be accountable for business development, the financial success of the offices, and attainment of sales and productivity goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Central Texas/Oklahoma VP and other Sub-Regional Directors, and leaders throughout SWCA's South region to drive scientific excellence, business performance, client satisfaction, and employee engagement.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction.
  • Mentor/develop employees directly and build and sustain a framework for mentorship through all levels of the organization.
  • Engage in and lead client management and development initiatives.
  • Assist with internal strategy in alignment with overall operational regional and corporate growth plans.
  • Provide leadership in, and be an ambassador for, in living SWCA's core values.
  • Implement project execution, QA and QC plans, and project reviews.
  • Serve as an ambassador for SWCA's Safety Culture and implementation.
