Bethel School District is seeking qualified applicants for a 7 hour per day Office Coordinator I/Educational Assistant II at Prairie Mountain. This position will be 4 hours per day Office Coordinator I (control # 6627) and 3 hours per day Educational Assistant II (control # 7349). Nature of Work Office Coordinator I This is office support work of a specialized clerical and secretarial nature for Bethel School District. Positions of this class perform general and specific clerical office support tasks for elementary, middle school, high school, or district office administrative staff. Office coordinator support may be provided to principals, counselors, department heads, vice-principals, teachers, or positions of a higher class. Most positions of this class have a blend of clerical support and secretarial assistance duties. The type of work may vary depending upon the work cycle of the school year. An Office Coordinator I may have student, parent and public contact in person or by telephone. A pleasant and helpful attitude is needed when dealing with the public. This position may include up to two recess supervision duties. Educational Assistant II An Educational Assistant II provides individual and small group support and personal assistance, often in a standard or special purpose educational program, to students with distinct and exceptional educational needs and challenges as determined by a certificated specialist. The primary purpose of positions in this class, which distinguishes it from positions of other classes, is to screen and assess the educational needs of students, provide instructional assistance to students in a classroom, and charting and recording results. Clerical and word processing or computer data base updating duties may be assigned to positions as time permits, but are not considered primary tasks and do not require a large percentage of time. A position of this class may be assigned full-time to a student with a physical impairment that requires the employee to assist with school tasks the student cannot perform, such as attending class and taking notes; carrying books; adapting written school materials; personal cleanliness and hygiene; administering medication; setting up or operating specially adapted equipment; food preparation and feeding the student; and assisting the student to communicate with teachers, classmates, and others. A position of this class may tutor students, individually or in small groups, providing instructional assistance in a variety of subjects or courses; administers and scores standardized tests; and maintains student records in conformance with government regulations.
