Under the direction and guidance of an orthopedic physician. Provides general clinical functions for the practice. The office based Athletic Trainer I will be responsible for preparing the patient for examination including initial patient assessment, histories, vital signs, medication reconciliation, immunizations, assists with joint injections, aspirations, cast removal/application, suture and staple removal, applies durable medical equipment, completes FMLA/disability forms, and provides various clinical information and support to providers. The office based ATI will also provide patient education to patients and their families regarding home exercise programs, medication management, referrals, treatment and care including pre and post OP care to ensure a favorable surgery outcome. Performs other duties as assigned. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
