About The Position

The Department of Insurance is seeking to hire an Office Associate who performs a variety of complex, specialized clerical information, assistance, and general office support functions to professional staff of the Office of Consumer Health Insurance (OCHI)/Health Products Complaints Section.  This position exercises independent judgment and initiative in providing complex and specialized support and assistance in the investigation and resolution of consumer complaints and inquiries; interprets and applies agency guidelines and policies in receiving, processing, and maintaining all complaints and inquiries; initiates correspondence with insurance company representatives regarding receipt of complaint and action or response required by insurance company.  We invite all qualified applicants to apply.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires two (2) years of office experience.
  • Requires skill in keyboarding accurately at 45 wpm.
  • Requires the ability to pass a background check.

  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience gaining knowledge of office practices, procedures, and programs.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience gaining knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Prefers elementary knowledge of agency programs, rules, and regulations.
  • Prefers ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Prefers ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance.
  • Prefers strong organizational skills.
  • Prefers ability to successfully handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Processes all health insurance related correspondence received for complaints, inquiries, and external reviews utilizing the electronic complaint database, scanning equipment, and complex hard copy filing system.
  • Advises and responds to consumers contacting the Department’s toll-free number and visiting the Department in person by providing information regarding health insurance.
  • Provides clerical support to supervisor on special projects, reports and documents pertaining to the overall complaint unit operations:
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
