About The Position

As a Licensing Associate at the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO), you will be critical to the regulation of this growing industry. You will go to work every day knowing that you are an important part of a team that keeps the people of Maine safe. This is entry-level regulatory work which offers the opportunity for career development and advancement- both within the Bureau and across Maine state government. This work primarily consists of data entry and communicating with licensees.

Requirements

  • Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks.
  • Ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Ability to prepare Excel worksheets and perform data entry.
  • Ability to stay current and understand, discuss, explain, and apply applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures, forms, computerized systems, and terminology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including writing concise reports and composing standard business correspondence.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting initial review of license applications.
  • Processing approved applications and entering associated data.
  • Tracking, monitoring, and processing liquor license violations and any associated workflow management.
  • Corresponding with members of the industry and the public.
  • Instructing industry members to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and best practices.
