About The Position

Under direction, performs highly specialized clerical duties relating to the seed, feed, fertilizer, anhydrous ammonia, soil amendment, chemistry lab and seed lab programs. Requires substantial responsibility, technical knowledge and understanding of agency programs, policies, and procedures. Responsible for processing certificates and typing all necessary information into the bureau program areas database systems. Prepares, organizes, and maintains all bureau program areas files. Assists in the evaluation, processing, preparing, and entering all analysis sheets to ensure accuracy. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. The Illinois Department of Agriculture administers the Illinois Fertilizer Act, the Illinois Commercial Feed Act, theIllinois Soil Amendment Act, the Illinois Seed Law and the Illinois Seed Arbitration Act. Through the licensing ofmanufacturers and distributors of agricultural inputs and products, the Department acts as a consumerprotection agency for purchasers of these products. The Office Associate will be responsible for highly specialized clerical duties relating to the seed, feed, fertilizer, anhydrous ammonia, and soil amendment programs. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
  • Requires two years of office experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard 45 words per minute.
  • Requires completion of a name-based background screening and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime includingscheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • This position is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
