About The Position

The Office Assistant Sr. performs recurring, yet technically oriented clerical, data compilation, secretarial, and customer service duties within a department, program, or equivalent Tribal function. Assignments can be in instructional or administrative areas, and where guidance is more on a technical and troubleshooting level. The Senior Office Assistant is the second and intermediate level in a career path designed for generalist clerical and customer services. Advancement to Senior Office Assistant requires two years of experience at the Office Assistant level or equivalent, a working knowledge of the terminology and procedures used in the area of assignment, the ability to research and extract information from commonly used databases, record work-in-progress data to support research and reporting, enter data to specialized files such as those for business and customer records, and the ability to troubleshoot problems encountered with customer service transactions. Advancement to Administrative Assistant requires the ability to administer contracts, set up compliance schedules, and coordinate required reporting for internal, interim, and external reporting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma supplemented by college-level coursework in general office practices.
  • 2 years of general clerical and keyboarding experience in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of financial transaction processing procedures.
  • Proficiency in personal computer-based software including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Sufficient arithmetic skills for computing sums and proofreading/editing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of private and sensitive information.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet schedules and timelines.
