About The Position

The City of Richmond is seeking a Production II Mailroom technical support representative to join the Department of Information Technology. This role involves providing support for the City's mailing services, ensuring the timely and accurate collection and delivery of mail, and maintaining high-quality copy and print production. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the Copy Center/Mail Room industry and will be responsible for various tasks related to mail handling and office equipment operation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; six months related office experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Minimum one-year work experience in an office or mailroom.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Strong professional and communication skills for dealing with USPS and other employees.
  • Ability to multitask and perform various duties simultaneously.
  • Ability to track and report progress on a wide range of tasks.
  • Ability to operate with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of computer applications, spreadsheets, and word processing for data entry.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism.
  • Ability to show up to work on time as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, coordinates, and organizes all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate collection and delivery of mail to all applicable locations.
  • Ensures all recorded, special delivery and courier items are delivered, documented, and appropriate signatures received.
  • Opens, stamps, sorts, and batches all incoming paper claims.
  • Prepares batches for courier pick-up and ensures courier box is complete, secure, and timely.
  • Transports mail, supplies, documents, and records to and from various off-site locations as required.
  • Orders and delivers supplies as requested and maintains adequate supply levels in common areas.
  • Maintains and documents consistent inventory of required letterhead, envelopes, check paper, etc.
  • Familiar with shipping UPS and FedEx procedures.
  • Records data of shipping and mail volumes daily.
  • Demonstrates solid customer service skills and maintains a friendly attitude.
