About the position

The City of Fayetteville is seeking an Office Assistant II for the Police Department. This role involves performing a variety of office tasks to support departmental operations, requiring the application of guidelines and program knowledge. The position includes responsibilities such as screening visitors and calls, maintaining schedules, composing documents, and assisting with budget preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Screen visitors and telephone calls and route as appropriate.
  • Assist the public and other departments by providing information concerning services provided.
  • Resolve problems by gathering and researching background information.
  • Screen incoming mail and prioritize it.
  • Maintain a calendar of activities and make travel arrangements.
  • Schedule and arrange division activities and meetings.
  • Compose, prepare, review, and distribute forms, reports, and correspondence.
  • Proofread and verify accuracy of documents.
  • Maintain/revise the records retention and disposal schedule.
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental budget and monitor expenditures.
  • Operate office equipment and maintain filing systems.
  • Process accounts payables and maintain related records.
  • Prepare monthly invoices and requisition supplies.
  • Contact the public and outside agencies for information and referrals.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in office administration or related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and policies.
  • Proficiency in operating office equipment and software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a government or public service environment.
  • Familiarity with budget preparation and financial monitoring.
