About The Position

ChristianaCare Oncology Hematology is looking for a Medical Office Assistant. ChristianaCare Oncology Hematology is located within the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute at 4701 Ogletown Stanton Road, Suite 2300 in Newark, Delaware. ChristianaCare Oncology Hematology is a top provider of cancer and blood disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and malignant/solid tumor cancers in various body parts. Join a team of experienced surgeons and physicians offering advanced treatments for blood, brain, breast, lung, and pancreatic cancers using the latest research and therapies. ChristianaCare Oncology Hematology provide comprehensive support, including educational programs, social services, and nutritional guidance to support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Hematology Oncology | ChristianaCare Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8am – 4:30pm

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Medical receptionist or medical assistant degree preferred but not required
  • Experience in a medical office setting or customer service environment is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling appointments
  • Interacting with patients professionally
  • Ensuring patient confidentiality
  • Collecting demographic and financial information
  • Processing referrals
  • Verifying insurance reimbursement eligibility
  • Day-end reconciliation of appointments and payments received
  • Answering phone calls professionally
  • Relaying messages to providers
  • Communicating with providers and staff through electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Keeping patients informed about issues and facilitate tests, labs, and appointments
  • Preparing medical records
  • Researching issues
  • Responding to patients professionally
  • Assisting with administrative tasks
  • Adhering to departmental safety rules
