About The Position

The Office Assistant 2 position at the New York State Thruway Authority involves a variety of clerical and administrative tasks to support the operations of the Nyack Section. The role includes answering phones, monitoring radio traffic, entering data into various systems, managing inventory, and coordinating paperwork related to employee training and administrative functions. The position is full-time, permanent, and requires a commitment to maintaining smooth operations within the office environment.

Requirements

  • Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service allocated to a Grade 07 or above.
  • One year of clerical experience for general public applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and handle daily inquiries from employees, supervisors, and vendors.
  • Monitor Thruway radio traffic and respond as necessary.
  • Enter Time & Attendance data using Kronos, LAM, and TAM.
  • Enter data into the Thruway Maintenance Management System (TMMS).
  • Perform P-Card Clerk duties including data entry and reconciliation.
  • Manage stockroom inventory and conduct spot checks.
  • Monitor bulk items including fuel and salt supply levels.
  • Coordinate tool complement program and semi-annual clothing program.
  • Handle inter-office mail and paperwork including injury reports and leave of absence requests.
  • Coordinate mandatory training rosters and TMW trainee paperwork.
  • Distribute and track bulletins, directives, and internal postings.
  • Liaise with the New York Division Administration Office on administrative and payroll issues.
  • Maintain the flow of paperwork for the Nyack Section.
