About The Position

This position exists to support the processing and customer service functions of the Records Department at Lake Superior College and ensures the timely, accurate and secure recording of confidential data of Records information. Processing responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: applications for admission, credit and non-credit registrations, contracted courses, college in the schools (CITS) registrations, post-secondary enrollment option applications (PSEO). Customer service functions include: communicating with students regarding Admissions/Records related issues in person, via telephone and email, and serving as a resource for colleagues on Records related policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities including assisting with departmental and campus committees and events.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail sufficient to create and maintain accurate records, and the ability to independently organize, prioritize one’s work, and meet deadlines across multiple projects and assignments.
  • Knowledge of program procedures sufficient to prepare correspondence, reports, and informational packets; knowledge of general office equipment and procedures such as basic math, typing, data entry, and related functions; and strong keyboarding and computer skills (email, word processing, web pages, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, databases) sufficient to disseminate information and communicate with students and the general public.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, and typing sufficient to type and edit a variety of written documents, and the ability to understand and apply oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students and prospective students, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage competing demands in a fast‑paced, high‑volume work environment.
  • Ability to train others in technical and human relations skills.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of student information in order to comply with applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Minnesota State programs, policies and procedures sufficient to answer questions for future LSC students.
  • Knowledge/experience with student information systems such as the Integrated Student Record System (ISRS).
  • Demonstrate ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiative.
