About The Position

The Off-Site Tow Truck Driver I position at Cox Automotive involves operating a tow truck to provide towing services to customer vehicles in various locations, including the SAAA parking lot. The role requires the use of dollies and a front-end loader for loading and unloading vehicles. The driver must ensure that vehicles are towed safely and securely, and assist customers with vehicle-related issues such as jump-starting batteries and unlocking vehicles. The position also includes routine maintenance checks on the tow truck and front-end loader, compliance with safety regulations, and participation in safety activities. The driver may also assist with lot operations and perform other duties as assigned by management. Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience driving a service/tow truck or front-end loader required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a tow truck to provide tow service to customer vehicles.
  • Uses dollies and a front-end loader for loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Affixes tow truck and front-end loader to vehicles needing tow.
  • Releases vehicles from the tow truck safely.
  • Hauls vehicles to directed areas in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Scans every towed vehicle using the TC75.
  • Assists employees and customers with towing and jump-starting vehicle batteries.
  • Tows vehicles to the mechanic shop as requested.
  • Removes incorrectly parked vehicles as requested.
  • Performs routine maintenance checks on tow truck and front-end loader.
  • Operates equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Participates in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Runs reports to move vehicles into the sale area for auction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime.
