Assesses plans, develops, implements, evaluates and revises off-shift education programs to meet the clinical needs of staff or to comply with federal, state, regulatory or organizational policy. Plans continuing nurse education programs when indicated according to established guidelines Identifies and recommends department specific content for learning modules and unit specific policies and procedures with specific focus on RN staff who have practiced less than 2 years Serves as a planner and facilitator for professional growth and continuing education programs for off-shift nurses when indicated Demonstrates professional leadership in nursing practice, concepts, principles and interventions Collaborates with management to ensure ongoing RN educational needs are met Adheres to all patient safety and blood & body fluid precautions Provides clinical instruction to RN staff throughout hospital to assess and assist with competency development Maintains current knowledge of The Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory standards for assigned unit and participates in regulatory inspections Develops and implements performance improvement plans in collaboration with nursing leadership when needed. Collaborates with nursing leadership to assess clinical competencies of assigned personnel. E valuates clinical activities of contracted licensed nurses working within their department and ensures contracted licensed nurses know current policies and procedures Collaborates with hospital support services to provide a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors Participates in identification of the aspects of care for the patient, indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care Participates in the identification, creation, implementation, and evaluation of Process Improvement projects for assigned areas S erves as a clinical resource person. Serves on nursing committees, hospital committees or professional nursing organizations. Fosters good public relations for department and hospital Promotes open communication within the department and with other departments Responsible for maintaining an advanced understanding of departmental and healthcare system programs as well as upkeep of nurse programs Demonstrates proficiency in computerized nursing informatics Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Cape Cod Hospital’s commitment to CARES\: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service
