About The Position

The Original Equipment Manufacturer Account Engineer role provides Eaton’s strategic customers considering purchasing components and engineered to order products with technical features/benefits and product specifications/documentation as well as drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years customer interaction experience
  • Experience with electrical products such as control & distribution components from PCD, low voltage, medium voltage breakers and assemblies
  • Knowledge of customer specifications and electrical drawings
  • Relocation assistance is not available. Candidates must currently reside within a 75-mile radius of Arden, NC to be considered.

  • Exceptional organizational skills required for managing and organizing high volume of transactions (orders, specifications, drawings, technical issues, documentation, and emails.)
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in effectively supporting complex orders.
  • Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with internal and external customers and sales engineers.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication, computer, and digital tools skills in addition to a strong work ethic, flexibility, and a desire to actively contribute to the group’s success.

  • Strong product knowledge and professional presence.
  • Occasional travel to plants and customer sites required in order to effectively interface with NAS and customer engineering teams, and to participate in company-related projects, activities, or other job-related assignments. This to include customer witness tests (joining the customer at the manufacturing plant to energize the equipment and ensure that it is performing as it should before shipping to the customer site).
  • Presentation/training skills to comfortably demonstrate Eaton’s product breadth and capabilities.
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of product configuration and pricing disciplines using pricing tools.
  • Strong knowledge of competitor capabilities, market conditions, and market channels. Be able to share customer intelligence.
  • Provide training and mentoring to peers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sale and post-sale technical support for customers purchasing components and ETO products.
  • Review requests for quotations (RFQs) accompanied by customer schematics/specifications and follow up conference calls to discuss any clarifications needed as well as identify appropriate products matching customer’s technical requirements.
  • Perform technical assistance utilizing electronic configuration tools such as Bid Manager and look up drawings on Eaton’s system Enovia. This includes providing an extensive range of seasoned and professional interpretations of complex customer drawings and specs.
  • Ability to read and interpret a broad range of electrical low voltage and medium voltage drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications to provide complete quotations.
  • Submittal comment mark-ups where our offering proposal is different than exact customer requirement.
  • Develop close working relationships with field sales, plants, and customers. Serve as liaison/advocate with marketing, plants, and product lines. Establish, develop, and nurture customer relationships to strengthen partnerships and achieve long term objectives.
  • Visit customers in the field to discuss their future technical product needs and publicize new products appropriate for their applications.
  • Actively take part in onboarding and training of new LDP (Leadership Development Program) members.
  • Assist customers and field sales personnel in interpreting product specifications and drawings requirements.
  • Assist customers after receiving the Purchase Order to ensure that all technical questions and possible changes to customer requirements have been accounted for, update Eaton’s electrical drawings as well as any additional costs from customer changes.
  • Manage any customer reported quality issues by submitting a CQM (Customer Quality Management) to the warranty contact at the plant and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
  • Preview and provide technical feedback on product literature developed by product line.
  • Proactively communicate customer needs to the product lines to highlight market gaps and needs and make recommendations for product enhancements and offerings to stakeholders.
  • Develop a knowledge base of product information, help technically train and onboard new engineers on the team.
  • Provide external customer training on products, processes, and resources as appropriate.
  • Provide back-up for team members (Knowledge of multiple customer requirements).
  • Document activities and customer/field communications through the Salesforce CRM (Customer Relationship Management).
  • Manage profitability of orders by ensuring that Eaton realizes an expense for any changes initiated by the customer.
  • Generate and contribute to best practices. Document and communicate best practices within team and/or site.
  • Effectively communicate product value proposition and product line strategies to our customers and sales engineers by recommending the appropriate products for the customers’ applications.
