About The Position

The Oculoplastics Surgeon at The Ohio State University is a full-time clinician faculty position within the Department of Medicine, specifically in Ophthalmology. The role involves providing licensed medical care, including diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures, while managing complex patient situations. The surgeon will engage in patient care, clinical research, and education, primarily at the OSU multi-specialty medical office buildings and surgical suites in the Columbus area, with additional responsibilities at the Columbus VA.

Requirements

  • Board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment.
  • State of Ohio and DEA licensure required.
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Completion of an approved residency program in Ophthalmology.
  • Subspecialty training in an ASOPRS-approved fellowship or membership in ASOPRS.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management in the subspecialty area.
  • Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery through research and publications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide licensed medical care including diagnosis and treatment.
  • Perform surgical procedures and manage pre/post-surgical care.
  • Engage in case management and clinical research.
  • Participate in education for residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Adhere to the established Medical Center and physician's standards of practice.
