About The Position

The Ocular Specialty Field Sales Representative at Bausch + Lomb is responsible for driving sales growth in the Ophthalmology and Optometrist markets within a designated territory. This role involves managing a portfolio of innovative products related to dry eye and glaucoma, utilizing analytical tools to develop business plans, and maintaining strong relationships with healthcare providers. The representative will also be expected to stay updated on managed care coverage and effectively communicate product information to enhance customer treatment options.

Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of specialty pharmaceutical sales experience with a proven track record of success
  • Required residence in territory geography
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology preferred
  • Demonstrated competency with studies/clinical reprints and other third-party proof sources
  • Proven PC skills required (Microsoft tools); familiarity with PeopleSoft, GBS, email, and other administration tools
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business trade journals, professional journals, and financial reports; capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Valid driver's license to travel to customer locations
  • Some overnight travel will be required
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Use analytical tools to build territory business plan based on opportunities for the product portfolio and strategic direction from the home office.
  • Drive territory performance based on growth in prescribing and market share.
  • Stay current on managed care coverage of products and communicate effectively with healthcare providers about updates.
  • Utilize and refine clinical selling techniques to influence customer thinking about treatment options and patient management.
  • Manage promotional budget and determine expenditures on promotional activities within the business plan.
  • Visit ophthalmologists and optometrists according to an established call plan and independent assessment of prescription activity and potential growth.
  • Utilize available samples within FDA guidelines to maximize impact with the promotional audience.
