About The Position

The position involves building, repairing, and preparing articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. The individual will install test articles into test structures such as test cells, tables, or rigs, and perform tests according to established methods and procedures. The role requires a deep understanding of the test equipment and the product under test to ensure the validity of test results. Responsibilities include configuring and operating data acquisition systems, analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The position also involves conducting performance and reliability testing on engines and components, diagnosing issues, and providing recommendations for equipment evaluation and updates. The individual will also be responsible for creating test plans, documenting findings, and ensuring compliance with safety policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field.
  • Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
  • Significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
  • Department of Labor Certification or four-year experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelor's degree in related field or Associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, repairs, and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Installs test articles into test structures (test cell, table, rig, etc.).
  • Performs tests in accordance with set test methods and established procedures.
  • Provides accurate and reliable test results.
  • Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data.
  • Conducts performance and reliability testing on engines and components.
  • Diagnoses engine and test cell problems and initiates resolutions.
  • Creates sketches for machining and fabricates necessary piping, tubing, and brackets.
  • Designs, documents, and executes test plans.
  • Prepares test reports including findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Works with and trains apprentices and technicians.
  • Participates in maintenance of quality procedures and improvement projects.
