About The Position

AECOM is seeking a talented OCS ( Overhead Catenary Systems) Engineer to join our World Class Rail team in Philadelphia! The ideal candidate will be part of the Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) Engineering team responsible for a variety of engineering tasks including, but not limited to planning, conceptual engineering, design, final engineering, constructability, and cost estimating. Typical tasks and daily duties: Serve as part of a team overseeing junior engineers on mid- to large size projects. Apply knowledge and understanding of rail design, rail operations and construction on or about a railroad, overhead catenary systems, traction power substations, signals and communications systems, and track layout. Develop overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams and technical specifications. Ensure compliance with all federal, state & local regulations Overhead Catenary System (OCS).

Requirements

  • BA/BS Engineering or related field and 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience in the design and analysis of overhead electrification systems, including a variety of project scopes and design phases ranging from preliminary design through construction

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and implementing a variety of overhead system types including auto-tensioned and fixed termination systems, simple catenary and single contact wire/trolley wire, as well as both AC and DC systems.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD and MicroStation into the design of electrification systems. Should also have knowledge of a variety of design software packages, including STAAD, LPile and MathCAD.
  • Experienced in the development of specifications, cost estimating, construction staging, and design around active railroad and should be familiar with construction and installation practices.
  • Ability to provide instruction, management and oversight to junior engineers in the practice to develop knowledge of OCS elements, guide them through design tasks and increase overall OCS capabilities of the practice.
