About The Position

The inpatient staff occupational therapist at Cook Children's Medical Center is responsible for providing in-patient therapy services to children with various conditions, focusing on enhancing functional skills, restoring function, and preventing disabilities. The role involves evaluating and treating pediatric patients with musculoskeletal injuries, neurological impairments, and other related disorders, while also providing education and consultation to caregivers and medical professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Occupational Therapy preferred.
  • Pediatric and/or developmental experience preferred.
  • CPR - BLS certification required.
  • State license for occupational therapy or eligibility for licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-patient occupational therapy services to children with various conditions.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with musculoskeletal injuries, fine motor delays, and neurological impairments.
  • Conduct assessments for assistive devices and activities of daily living.
  • Fabricate splints as needed for patient care.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy processes and home programming.
  • Consult with other medical professionals, clinics, and agencies regarding patient care.
  • Document therapy services and correspondence according to department policies.
