About The Position

Binghamton University's Division of Occupational Therapy, located at the newly renovated, state-of-the-art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is conducting a cluster hire for its developing entry-level occupational therapy doctoral (OTD) program and invites applicants for full-time, campus-based, 10-month faculty appointments. The position encompasses teaching, innovation, and clinically driven scholarship. Faculty rank, tenure-track options, and salary depend on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. Tenure-track/tenured faculty may qualify for designation as a Binghamton University Faculty Fellow.

Requirements

  • Research doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD) from an accredited institution
  • At least three years of experience in occupational therapy assessment and intervention
  • New York State Occupational Therapy license, or equivalent certification, by time of appointment
  • Demonstrated expertise in any one (or more) of the previously listed content areas
  • Research agenda with peer reviewed publications and a research plan that proposes internal and extramural funding strategies

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching in an accredited, graduate-level, occupational therapy program
  • Experience supporting doctoral-level students with final projects
  • Experience in outcome assessments
  • Experience in innovative instructional approaches, which can include: active learning, problem-based approaches, case-based approaches, and simulation

Responsibilities

  • Participating in ongoing curriculum development, implementation, and assessment for the developing entry-level doctoral program;
  • Close collaboration with other faculty within the Division and with faculty in related departments;
  • Developing a clinical scholarship or innovation agenda.
  • Establishing an independent research program that will attract external funding;
  • Developing an externally supported research program that contributes to our designation as an R1 institution;
  • Contributing to the department's teaching mission by instructing doctoral courses in their area of expertise;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the doctoral capstone experience;
  • Serving as a faculty advisor and mentor to students in the Entry-Level Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy program;
  • Teaching assigned courses based on area of expertise;
  • Engaging in program and university committees as appropriate;
  • Participate in student academic advising and service at the division, college, and university levels
