About The Position

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will evaluate patients promptly following physician referrals, develop treatment plans, and provide therapy in accordance with physician directives. This role involves supervising other therapy assistants, training staff, and participating in patient care conferences. The position requires effective communication with healthcare team members and documentation of patient progress and treatment changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy; preference for graduates of Masters or Doctorate Program in Occupational Therapy.
• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state.
• Proficient in computer skills, including data input into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical procedures and policy manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and families.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients within twenty-four (24) hours of physician referral.
• Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval from referring physicians.
• Treat patients according to the physician's treatment plan.
• Assist nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in direct patient care activities.
• Communicate with supervisors and health team members regarding patient progress and plans.
• Participate in Patient Care Conferences and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
• Participate in in-service training programs for other staff.
• Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, and progress notes as required.
• Instruct patient's families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training.
• Participate in discharge planning and recommend necessary durable medical equipment for patients.
• Report any problems with department equipment.
