About The Position

Location: Pembroke Pines, Florida Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care ranging from complex multiple trauma, stroke and brain injury to physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient care available in five different locations. We also have a home health team and resources for long-term care at Memorial Manor, while also offering therapy for pediatric developmental diagnosis through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Summary: Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, provides occupational therapy services.

  • BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE)
  • BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant License (OTA LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • May assume responsibility for student supervision.
  • Monitors patient's responses to the treatment plan.
  • Regularly communicates patient progress and recommends possible goal revisions to the therapist.
  • Documents services provided and patient response/progress.
  • Assists with patient discharge planning.
  • Implements treatment plan developed by supervising therapist using appropriate modalities.
  • Seeks consultation as necessary.
  • Communicates patient status and recommendations to care team.
  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community resource programs.
