About The Position

Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) faculty members work under the direct supervision of the Campus Director or Associate Campus Director and with support from the Assistant Campus Director of Education, Director of Education, Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program Director and/or in some cases, the OTA Lead Faculty. In this role, you will instruct students and design & deliver class instruction through the development of lesson plans, review lesson plans and prepare for class instruction, grade and electronically record assignments, actively promote student retention, support externship activities as applicable, and perform related work as required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
Three years experience in the field of Occupational Therapy.
Experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.
Applicant must also hold an OTA or OTR/L license in the state in which they teach.
Familiar with ACOTE standards
Must have sufficient ability to move around the building and classroom to satisfy student needs and/or facilitate student participation
Must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials, use white board and use classroom equipment
Ability to communicate effectively in classroom and individual settings
Knowledge of materials (subjects) that will be taught to students and ability to use and communicate Ross curriculum
Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced work environment
Ability to use current technology to maintain student records, e.g., Microsoft Office, CampusVue
Ability to achieve or maintain credential and/or licensure within expected time frames
Demonstrates professionalism in manner, dress and conduct as a representative of Ross and a student mentor
Ability to remain objective and treat all students equally
Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Responsibilities

Design (as needed) and deliver class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet course competencies. Use standard curriculum where available.
Ensure blended delivery is successful and meaningful for the student through use of the learning management system, including the faculty development course delivery evaluation form.
Utilizes contemporary teaching strategies and practices; such as instructional resources through guest speakers, field trips, videos, overhead transparencies, Instructor's Resource Manual, lecture, and handouts to enhance the learning process
Accurately records students' daily attendance
Holds conferences with students on an as-needed basis
Follow and enforced Student Guidelines
manages program supplies and equipment in good repair
Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times
Monitors class retention rates and actively participates to promote student retention in order to exceed accreditation standard of 80%
Reviews standard Ross curriculum, and prepare weekly lesson plans as needed
Corrects students' assignments and tests; reviews results and returns them promptly
Accurately records grades, attendance, successful completion of proficiencies; entering information in campus management software
Works additional time weekly, as announced, for individual student needs outside the classroom
Cooperates with lab schedules and maintains weekly office hour(s)
Completion of a minimum of one pre-approved professional development workshop, seminar or course related to the teaching discipline of the Instructor every fiscal year
Attends two Ross Education LLC in-services every fiscal year
Attends formal and informal faculty/staff meetings
BLS instructor certification may be required
Informs Assistant Campus Director of Education or Campus Director immediately of unsatisfactory academic student progress, discipline or attitude problems, and occurrences that warrant discussion
Under direction of Campus Director, and/or Assistant Campus Director of Education, provides additional support to students on alerts, warnings and/or probations
Attends quarterly faculty meetings to discuss classroom concerns, student issues, retention and placement, curriculum development and assessment, survey results and other topics as appropriate
Participates in school events regarding student retention and placement
Performs related work as required
