About The Position

ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people. The Occupational Therapy Assistant I is responsible for following established treatment plans set by the occupational therapist and providing Occupational Therapy treatments. These services are based on the patient/family preferences and the developmental needs, medical conditions, and diseases as they affect patient care and recovery. The occupational therapy assistant will be responsible for maintaining patient care documentation and adherence to documentation guidelines. The occupational therapy assistant shall participate in patient care staffing and assist other team members in understanding the patient problems as related to the patient's occupational performance.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher.
  • Passed or eligible for the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT) License.
  • Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant is required.
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy Assistant (NBCOT) required.
  • OTA licensure with State of North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT) required.
  • 3 years or less of licensure is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established treatment plans set by the occupational therapist.
  • Provide Occupational Therapy treatments based on patient/family preferences.
  • Maintain patient care documentation and adhere to documentation guidelines.
  • Participate in patient care staffing.
  • Assist team members in understanding patient problems related to occupational performance.
