About The Position

The Advanced Clinician Occupational Therapist, is responsible for the evaluation, treatment and discharge planning of all patients referred for their given services. The OT is an integral healthcare provider accountable to assist the patient to progress to their highest level of physical, cognitive, linguistic, and swallowing function. The Advanced Clinician will uphold the mission, vision, and values of Jefferson Health. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Works in conjunction with other allied health care professionals to coordinate treatment plans and care. Has primary responsibility for mentorship and advancement of care in area of specialty practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program AND Experience: Minimum of 7 years of current clinical practice with at least 2-3 years of clinical experience as evidenced by progression of patient volume and clinical complexity in their resource area, and at least 2000 hours of specialty practice.
  • Valid state license in Occupational Therapy.
  • Valid certification from the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required.
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Provides advanced therapy evaluations, treatment planning, treatment interventions and discharge planning for a full patient caseload in acute care, skilled facility, acute rehab, outpatient settings as appropriate.
  • Performs specialty-specific teaching while assisting with staff orientation and competency assessment for new / rotating staff. Models assessment, synthesis and application of the literature in practice.
  • Assists manager/supervisor with coordination of program development and performance improvement activities in the area of expertise.
  • Participates in student and resident education: Part-time e.g. ICE, OT level 1, full-time students, residents and fellows.
  • Plans, organizes and delivers treatment programs that help clients/patients recover and rehabilitate.
  • Utilizes tools and techniques to administer safe therapeutic interventions and trainings, for patients and families.
  • Records and documents clients/patients' health progress information for all therapeutic interventions including daily treatments, progress notes, evaluations and discharge summaries.
  • Shares clinical expertise through educational forums internally and externally and involvement in research activities.
  • Provides input to leadership on annual competencies and clinical education needs.
  • Supports supervisor/manager with ongoing clinical and departmental operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
