About The Position

The Occupational Therapy Acquired Brain Injury Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University is a 12-month post-professional program designed to equip occupational therapists with specialized skills to address the complex needs of individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI). The fellowship emphasizes experiential learning in outpatient neurorehabilitation, acute care, and inpatient rehabilitation, culminating in certification as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an occupational therapy educational program accredited by ACOTE.
  • Possess Maryland State OT license by the start date.
  • Hold National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy registration.
  • Possess current AHA BLS certification prior to the start of fellowship.
  • AOTA membership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in treating patients with neurological conditions in acute care or inpatient rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in over 500 hours of didactic and clinical education, mentored practice, and scholarly activities.
  • Provide more than 1,200 hours of direct patient care.
  • Participate in evidence-informed practice and interprofessional collaboration.
  • Contribute to advocacy efforts for individuals with brain injuries and their families.
  • Adhere to the American Occupational Therapy Association Fellowship Program criteria and learning objectives.
