This is a mid-level clinical provider within the Clinical Services Department. This role is responsible for delivering essential therapeutic services focused on improving clients’ functional abilities and promoting independence. The Occupational Therapist utilizes a range of treatment modalities—both direct and indirect—to support client recovery and help them achieve individualized goals. This position collaborates with Behavioral Health staff and provides services within both the therapeutic community and field settings.

  • Provides therapeutic interventions to support clients in developing, recovering, or maintaining daily living and work skills.
  • Conducts assessments to identify functional limitations and creates individualized treatment plans.
  • Facilitates individual and group sessions focused on improving motor skills, cognitive functioning, and adaptive behaviors.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure treatment plans align with client goals and program objectives.
  • Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency, payer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in team meetings to review client progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed.
  • Educates clients and caregivers on techniques to improve independence and quality of life.
  • May provide training and guidance to staff on occupational therapy principles and practices.
  • Attends agency and community meetings and trainings as required.
  • Completes mandated reports and documentation as needed.
  • Conducts clinical assessments; all assessments must be reviewed and signed by the licensed supervisor.
  • After hours and weekend work may be required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in occupational therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
  • Valid California Occupational Therapy License issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT).
  • Demonstrated experience working with mental health populations and older adults, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions tailored to cognitive, emotional, and physical needs.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on critical or complex topics.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or clinical thinking to a wide range of individual, family and community problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to work with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic medical records.
  • First aid training.
  • Valid Driver’s License - Must meet and maintain insurance underwriting requirements.
