About The Position

This position will be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy (OT) services for infants and toddlers who are enrolled in the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program (NCITP). The primary functions of this position are to provide occupational therapy evaluations and treatment, to children birth to 3 years of age. Additionally, this position will be responsible for completing eligibility determination evaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team for children referred to the NCITP, and to assess child and family needs for early intervention supports and services, including evaluation for appropriate assistive technology. Evaluations and services are provided as a member of a multidisciplinary team at the New Bern Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) . The New Bern CDSA is one of a statewide network of 16 regional agencies that provide early intervention services through the NCITP which is the program under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which serves children ages birth to 3 years, who have or who are at risk for developmental disabilities, and their families. The New Bern CDSA is the local lead agency for the NCITP for children and their families who reside in Carteret, Craven, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, and Pamlico Counties.

Requirements

  • Must Be Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in North Carolina.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with birth to three pediatric population and developmental disabilities, including use of Assistive Technology options and devices for this population.
  • Experience with evaluations and assessments through standardized and/or formal testing procedures and behavioral assessments to design and implement a treatment program specific to the findings and develop functional outcomes for child’s IFSP.
  • Ability to integrate the family into the intervention process and provide coaching on how the parent or other caregiver can facilitate and support skill development on an ongoing basis using the child’s every day routines

Responsibilities
