Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy program (ACOTE-approved).
  • Completion of all required fieldwork and eligibility for NBCOT certification.
  • Valid California Occupational Therapist license issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy principles related to physical, sensory, and developmental functioning.
  • Ability to assess, plan, and implement interventions for sensory-motor and functional deficits.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and educational staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of occupational therapy experience, preferably in school-based or pediatric settings.
  • Experience supervising occupational therapy assistants.
  • Familiarity with consultation models in educational environments.
  • Background in transition planning and functional life-skills development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to address sensory-motor, functional, and developmental needs.
  • Conduct screenings, evaluations, and assessments to identify occupational performance deficits.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized occupational therapy treatment plans and goals.
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to align therapy goals with educational programming.
  • Support transition planning and exit planning for students receiving occupational therapy services.
  • Provide consultation, training, and guidance to staff and families on classroom and home strategies.
  • Supervise and provide direction to occupational therapy assistants as assigned.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records in compliance with regulations.
