About The Position

Evaluates and treats patients with disabilities, injuries and/or disease in accordance with the written and signed prescription and/or referral of a state licensed physician or other State authorized practitioner.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy, required.
• Current New York State license or New York State limited permit.
• Minimum of one (1) year related experience with Bachelors Degree, required.

Nice To Haves

• Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy, preferred.
• No experience required with Masters Degree.

Responsibilities

• Screens and assesses patients based on diagnosis and age to develop an individualized plan of care.
• Discusses findings, and collaborates with patients/family on the establishment of goals.
• Implements creative treatment activities based upon patient’s age, interest, education level and social history and cultural and spiritual considerations.
• Monitors patient response to treatment and changes plan, as needed.
• Develops a program to support performance in the home and community environment.
• Teaches specific activities/procedures to patient, family or hospital personnel in a manner consistent with their level of understanding.
• Monitors treatment environment for safety.
• Considers psychosocial aspects of care.
• Terminates services when maximum benefit is received and formulates follow-up plan, when indicated.
• Documents care and maintain records, as required.
• Schedules and prioritizes workload to meet productivity standards and deadlines.
• Provides in-service education to staff and clinical education to students.
• Performs related duties as required.
