About The Position

Therapists (PT, OT, SLP) shall be responsible for providing evaluation, designing a plan of care, and implementing treatment strategies using therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with established professional practices and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree program in Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy.
  • Personal Job-Related Skills: Can effectively communicate with patients/clients belonging to different age groups and varying levels of disability.
  • License, Registry or Certification: Must have a current certificate/license in the state of Texas. CPR certification is required.
  • Relevant work or clinical experience in a duly accredited hospital, outpatient, or home health setting.
  • Exerting 50-100 lbs of force occasionally or up to 50 lbs of force frequently. May involve exerting more than 100 lbs of force in some situations, and up to 20 lbs of force to constantly move objects.
  • Working knowledge and competent capabilities in computer technology.
  • Reports for work regularly with a minimum number of absences and tardiness. Gives notice and submits justifications when absence or tardiness is unavoidable. Receives authorization when time off is needed. Observes appropriate lunch and break schedules.
  • Manages own time and uses appropriate work methods, techniques, and equipment to achieve the most effective and efficient result in the time available. Is mutually respectful of time and schedule of others. Balances multiple priorities and focuses on desired outcome(s).
  • Projects a positive work attitude; relates effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and others; always uses tact and diplomacy, acts professionally.
  • Treats patients, visitors and fellow employees with compassion, dignity and respect.
  • Produces work that is complete, neat, accurate, and timely. Demonstrates self-responsibility and accountability.
  • Adapts to organizational changes (e.g., technology, resources, and personnel). Takes initiative in identifying any problems and takes appropriate steps to resolve them.
  • Presents neat and clean appearance; adheres to the appropriate departmental dress code policy; wears I.D. badge with name visible (on upper body) for easy identification.
  • Makes sure tone and word selection match the intended message and audience; uses language and terminology listeners can understand; shows compassion and understanding in words; understands the tone of voice directly impacts the way a message is received; listens carefully to others; keeps conversations positive and constructive; focuses on potential solutions when discussing problems or issues; avoids gossiping, complaining and the use of profanity.
  • Maintains a neat, organized and safe work area; follow safety policies; uses proper lifting techniques (e.g. utilize appropriate transfer devices, lift equipment and body mechanics); report all accidents and safety hazards promptly; takes appropriate actions to correct or prevent recurrence.
  • Uses time clock consistently when coming to work, leaving work, lunch breaks, and anytime leaving the facility grounds for personal reasons; turns in adjustments, leave requests, etc. timely.

Responsibilities

  • Complete an examination process that includes taking the history, conducting a systems review, and performing tests and measures to identify potential and existing problems.
  • Perform evaluations, synthesize examination data and determine whether the impairments/problems to be addressed are within the scope of practice or whether a referral to another health care provider is indicated.
  • Based on judgments about diagnosis and prognosis and based on individual goals, therapists should establish a plan of care and provide therapeutic interventions.
  • Therapists should also conduct reexaminations and modify interventions necessary to achieve goals and outcomes, and develop and implement plans for conclusion of care.
  • Design individualized plans of care based on clinical judgment, best available evidence, and patient/client’s situation and goals.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals to address individual needs and provide efficient and effective care across the continuum of care.
  • Provide consultation to individual patients/clients, other healthcare practitioners, facilities, and organizations in assessing the need for therapy and the type of services needed for an individual.
  • Properly document the course of patient care including progress made, response to treatment, and continued need for skilled intervention.
  • Provide supervision to respective therapy assistant personnel during treatment and be available for questions regarding patient’s progress to goals and plan of care.
  • Complete all billing information daily or by set guidelines.
  • Complete continuing education/professional development activities applicable to maintaining licenses and certifications.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Muenster Hospital District.
  • Follow safety guidelines, adhere to HIPAA standards, and all policies and procedures of MHD.
