Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital is looking for a Occupational Therapist to join a team of health care professionals in our newly renovated facility at 205 Hollow Tree Lane, Spring, TX. Rate: $45/hr DOE Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist (OT) assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates therapeutic interventions designed to enhance functional independence, adaptive skills, and quality of life. This position plays a key role in promoting rehabilitation, safety, and well-being for individuals with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial impairments while adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and facility security protocols.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current and active Occupational Therapist license in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience required; experience in correctional, behavioral health, or hospital setting highly desirable.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include maintaining licenses, certifications, and passing an annual background check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations to assess patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social abilities related to functional independence and daily living skills.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that address identified deficits and promote successful participation in self-care, vocational, and leisure activities.
  • Provide direct therapeutic interventions including adaptive techniques, therapeutic exercises, and activity-based therapy.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including medical and security staff to ensure coordinated, safe, and effective care delivery.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with facility, state, and federal standards.
  • Educate patients and staff on adaptive equipment, ergonomics, and strategies for functional improvement.
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all infection control, safety, and security procedures specific to the environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism consistent with ethical and legal standards of practice.
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
