The Occupational Therapist (OT) works as a vital member of an interdisciplinary team utilizing their training and clinical specialty to assist children and/or adults in maintaining/gaining independence. This occurs through the development of interventions that focus on enhancing existing skills, creating opportunities for growth and increased independence, promoting wellness, remediating or restoring skills and modifying or adapting the environment or activity. Works in both outpatient programs with children and/or adults and associated agency staff The OT also helps to educate and support agency clients, family members and significant others through the recovery process. May perform screenings and/or assessments and education in a number of environments which may include schools, homes, residential programs and other appropriate sites. Works closely with both internal and external referral resources to insure access to appropriate forms of care.
