About The Position

Beloit Health System is looking to add an Occupational Therapist to our Team at NorthPointe! The Occupational Therapist evaluates patients and develops goals and a plan of care within the scope of services. The Occupational Therapist reviews the plan and goals and progresses and/or revises the program appropriately. Responds to referral and schedules patient according to department policies and procedures. Evaluates patient and develops goals and treatment plan. Implements and coordinates Occupational Therapy treatment within the overall treatment plan, coordinating care with other professionals as needed. Reviews plan of care and progresses or adjusts program as appropriate. Informs, counsels and consults with patient's family, case managers, industries, etc. and other health care workers. Documents patient data (evaluation, treatment and progress notes, D/C summary, charges) and department statistics according to department policies and procedures. Provides and/or fabricates adaptive equipment or assistive devices as indicated to increase the independence of the patient. Provides and fabricates splints. Plans discharge with treatment team and provides home program if necessary. Supervises and directs assistant occupational therapy personnel. Educates patients and families in regard to functional outcomes and abilities of patient. Participates in team conferences and discharge planning with departmental staff and/or members of the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master's in Occupational Therapy or Certificate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school. Or higher degree equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of a 6-9 month internship program in Occupational Therapy.
  • American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider CPR and AED Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees, patients, and family members in groups and on a one-to-one basis.
  • Ability to problem solve and reason.
  • Familiarity with a variety of equipment, including computer software, is required.
  • Organization, time management, flexibility, and positive attitude are crucial to successful performance.
  • Continuous professional development is expected.
  • Current License in the State of Illinois as an Occupational Therapist at the time of hire or prior to providing services.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to recall short- and long-term memory.
  • Ability to lift/carry medium work level up to 55lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull medium to heavy work level up to 200lbs.
  • Ability to complete fine and gross motor movements and eye/hand coordination.
  • The physical ability to complete job tasks with full range of body motion necessary to complete dynamic balance, squat, bend, stoop, crawl, reach and sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Requires ability to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to handle pressures in meeting deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public
  • Ability to work effectively in a congested work site.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a group setting.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and good problem-solving skills.
