About The Position

Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapist Position Overview: A licensed professional specializing in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of ...... Have a passion and cultural sensitivity to make a difference in the lives of individuals with communication disorders. Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify delays or disorders within the scope of practice of an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Use evidence-based assessment tools, standardized tests, informal assessments, and observations, and techniques to identify client needs and to develop accurate diagnoses. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs and goals. Provide therapy to improve areas of need identified on the assessment tool(s) used to determine eligibility and within the scope of practice for an OTR/L or COTA. Educate clients, families, and caregivers about communication strategies and progress. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including teachers, therapists, medical professionals, families,and caregivers, to ensure comprehensive care. Advocate for client needs in educational, medical, and community settings. Maintain accurate records, including assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Provide guidance and training to clients, families, and support staff on strategies to enhance communication skills outside of therapy sessions. Engage in prevention and early intervention programs to address other potential disorders or delays. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and organizational regulations, as well as professional ethics. Uphold RightStart Therapy Services, Inc polices, procedures, standards of conduct. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors in Occupational Therapy for a COTA, Master's of Occupational Therapy for OTR/L
  • Certification: Certification with the NBCOT
  • Experience: Prior work with children or individuals with developmental disorders preferred but not required. Experience in clinical, educational, or medical settings is beneficial.
  • Physical: Ability to lift, move, pull/push individuals who may weigh up to 35lbs. Physical ability to engage in active play and interventions (e.g., bending, kneeling, running).
  • CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Analytical skills for assessment and treatment planning
  • Creativity and adaptability in designing and implementing therapy plans
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Time management skills for submitting session notes, evaluations promptly
  • Organizational and proficiency skills for detailed data tracking

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Prior work with children or individuals with developmental disorders preferred but not required. Experience in clinical, educational, or medical settings is beneficial.
