About The Position

The rehabilitation program at Nemours Children's Health has an opening for a Part-time, Occupational Therapist, to Join our dynamic interdisciplinary team. This position services children and adolescents with brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders and post-surgical rehabilitation needs within our CARF accredited comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation program. Work schedule will be every Monday and Tuesday (8:30am-5pm) and every other Wednesday. 1 weekend day per month required. Provides occupational therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Maintains core competencies and any additional competencies determined to be necessary by the management team to ensure patient care needs are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree​ in ​Occupational Therapy​ from ​an ACOTE​ accredited university required.
  • Minimum of 3-6 months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences.
  • State of Delaware Occupational Therapist License required upon hire.
  • A second Occupational Therapist License will be required for PA or NJ. Must submit license or proof of application submission within 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment. All clinical staff will maintain dual licensure.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.
  • Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license.

  • Member of professional specialty organizations (AOTA, State OT Assoc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults
  • Able to provide occupational therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
  • Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
  • Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
  • Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
  • Participates in triage and coverage planning as necessary to meet patient care and departmental needs.
  • When required by assignment, participates in weekend/holiday inpatient coverage rotation, including checking the code blue cart per guideline #7980.GL.24.
