Ambulatory Health Care Services

Provides Occupational Therapy services to patients of all ages including adolescents, adults and geriatric patients who are referred; Evaluates the Occupational Therapy needs of the patient; Develops goals and treatment plan in conjunction with the patient and family/significant other; Implements treatment program; Provides education to patients, families and caregivers; Supervises Occupational Therapy students and support staff in compliance with hospital, state and national regulatory policies.

  • Implements treatment program
  • Provides education to patients, families and caregivers
  • Supervises Occupational Therapy students and support staff in compliance with hospital, state and national regulatory policies
  • Bachelor of Science, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an Occupational Therapy program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • License and/or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist from the Department of Health, Division of Professional Regulation, State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
  • BLS required.
  • Experience in physical disabilities setting with relevant field work/work experience preferred.
  • Occupational Therapy theory, assessment and treatment techniques; task analysis; ability to develop therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients; basic splint fabrication skills
  • Skills in organization and priority setting.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with peers and other disciplines.
  • Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and caregivers and demonstrating sensitivity to age, spiritual, and cultural diversity of customers.
  • Ability to instruct patients, caregivers and their families
  • Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers
  • Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams
  • Visual acuity and hand dexterity.
  • Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching.
  • Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs.
