About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy required
  • NM Occupational Therapist License
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
  • Occupational Therapist requires detailed knowledge of occupational therapy in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done, this level includes interpretation of data.
  • Less than one year experience in occupational therapy.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting

  • Masters degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of function/occupation and developmental disorders.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served
  • Oversees and insures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and immediate environmental well-being of the patient
  • Promotes patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
  • Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
  • Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide direct patient care and/or consultative services for children, teens, and infants in the PICU, PEDs oncology unit and the premature and/or medically complex infants in the Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of babies and children served.
  • Oversees and ensures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, neurodevelopmental outcomes, supports infant/child mental health and immediate environmental well-being of the infant/child.
  • Promotes infant/caregiver/parent self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
  • Nurture the infant-family dyad.
  • Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in the infants/child's care.
  • Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
  • Is an infant, child, and family advocate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
