About The Position

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, create treatment plans and oversee progress of clients with the goals of living independently in the community. In addition, to individual treatments the occupational therapist will create and run therapeutic groups to promote participation and independence within the client’s chosen communities. They will also work with families and collaborate with related mental health professionals to provide an integrated team approach to the client’s care. Why work for DePaul? Requirements

  • The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy program, certified by the National Board for Occupational Therapy, and be licensed as an occupational therapist in the state of New York.
  • At least one year of experience in a mental health setting is preferred but will except entry-level knowledge of occupational therapy practice in mental health.
  • In addition to the above criteria this position also requires a clean NYS driving record as outlined in DePaul’s personnel policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform occupational therapy (OT) evaluations and screenings for potential or current residents at a DePaul residential program.
  • Develop a holistic, client-centered treatment plan to facilitate skill building that allows the client to be as independent and empowered as possible.
  • Use evidence-based interventions with assigned clients to assist them in achieving their goals.
  • Assemble and lead therapeutic groups that promote skill building, community integration, social participation and occupational wellness.
  • Evaluate and adapt the client’s environments to promote their optimal level of functioning.
  • Provide consultation and in-service trainings for DePaul staff.
  • Complete all necessary documentation as set by the program’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or agency.
