About The Position

The Occupational Therapist at SportsCare plays a vital role in the rehabilitation of patients with hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions. They provide specialized care to help patients regain function and improve their overall well-being through personalized treatment plans.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with hand and upper extremity issues, including injuries, surgeries, and chronic conditions. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Treatment Planning: Create and implement treatment plans that may include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, splinting, and modalities, tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each patient.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on their condition, treatment options, and home exercises to promote self-management and independence in their rehabilitation journey.
  • Splinting: Utilize your hand therapy expertise to design and fabricate custom splints and orthoses as needed for patients. Ensure proper fit and functionality of splints to support the healing process.
  • Progress Monitoring: Continuously assess patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Document changes in symptoms, range of motion, strength, and function.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the broader healthcare team, including physical therapists, Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs), orthopedic surgeons, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care and facilitate a patient's overall recovery.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Equipment and Facility Management: Ensure the availability and proper maintenance of specialized equipment and tools required for hand therapy.
  • Stay Informed: Stay current with the latest developments in hand therapy techniques, research, and treatment modalities through continuing education and professional development.
