The Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Program is a MassHealth program that allows people with long-term disabilities to live at home independently. The Northeast Arc Personal Care Management (PCM) program serves about 5,000 individuals living in communities throughout northeastern Massachusetts, Greater Boston, and the Metro West area. Our Skills Trainers, with the help of a nurse and occupational therapist, assess the personal care needs of the individual and prepare a PCA application to submit to the consumers insurer. The consumers insurance (MassHealth/Medicaid, SCO or One Care Program) grants final approval of the recommended Care Plan. Once approval is received, the Skills Trainer teaches the individual how to successfully hire, train, supervise, and pay his or her own Personal Care Attendants. Job Type: Per diem, on the road Service Areas: Essex, Middlesex, and Suffolk Counties Pay: $80 per evaluation Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist (OT) acts as an integral member of the PCM interdisciplinary professional team. The OT performs initial evaluations with an RN to determine eligibility of prospective members for Medicaid funded Personal Care Services and participates in annual re-evaluation of members is based on request from RN. Major Responsibilities: Participates in the initial face to- face of potential members with Registered Nurse in the individuals home or place of residence Collaborates with the RN in the Evaluation of the members physical and cognitive condition and resulting functional limitations to determine the member ability to benefit from and manage PCA services. Participates in re-evaluations upon request, annually or more frequently if a significant change in the members physical condition or living condition has been reported. Ensures all re-evaluations accurately represent the members need for physical assistance with ADLs /IADLs and considers the members physical, cognitive and resulting functional limitations to determine continue ability to benefit from PCA. Conducts a minimum of 12 evaluations per month. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association, Minimum of a bachelors degree.
