About The Position

The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and provides treatment and rehabilitation as prescribed by a referring physician. Works with family and team members regarding patient's abilities and goals. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Must have necessary requisites for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Oregon State Board of Health.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements.
  • Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all St. Charles Health System worksites.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Must have one year of experience with therapy procedures, current orthopedic and neurological follow-up procedures, and rehabilitation practices.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse population and professionally represent St. Charles Health System.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels within St. Charles Health System and external customers/clients/potential employees.
  • Strong team working and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to effectively reach consensus with a diverse population with differing needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Performs basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide) calculations.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Basic to intermediate ability and experience in computer applications, specifically electronic medical records system and MS Office.

  • Neurorecovery Unlimited: Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS)
  • Neonatal Therapy Certification Board: Neonatal Therapy Certification (NTCB)

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Oregon State Occupational Therapy Licensing Board.
  • Provides occupational therapy evaluation and treatment to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provides staff consultation and training.
  • Provides community resource knowledge and referral services.
  • Provides occupational therapy services to other hospital service areas.
  • May be required to drive Rehabilitation van and meet all related SCHS vehicle policy requirements.
  • Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to assure patient care is accomplished effectively and efficiently in a cost effective manner.
  • Participates in clinical care conferencing.
  • Gathers data and accurately documents information in a timely manner demonstrating compliance with departmental and professional regulations.
  • Participates with team members in facilitating patient's and family's learning throughout the continuum of care. Reinforces patient's continued health care through teaching and/or referral to community agency follow-up.
  • Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

  • Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.

  • May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
