What you’ll be doing Provide occupational therapy services as prescribed by consumer’s physician for adults and adolescents with head injuries, spinal cord injuries, chronic pain, general orthopedic rehabilitation needs, and/or neurological behavioral issues as part of an interdisciplinary team. Occupational Therapy includes evaluations, recommendations for purchasing equipment in preparation for patient discharge, creating treatment plans, completing progress reports, and daily documentation. Coordinate external equipment as needed. Treatment plans encompasses BADL, IADL, home accessibility, adaptive equipment, UE orthotic devices, visual assessment and treatment, pre-driving assessment and training, functional mobility training, community integration, and family education. Additionally, vocational adaptations may be offered in various settings. Develop home exercise programs (restorative program) for long term patients, and train restorative aides. Familiarity with all departmental equipment, and ability to implement equipment according to consumer goals/needs.

Requirements

  • NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with certification
  • State of Michigan current licensure as an Occupational Therapist.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of work experience with Neurological disorders, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and/or Orthopedic injury preferred.
