About The Position

This position is an on-call on an as needed basis. The Work: The Occupational Therapist should perform services in accordance with Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and American Medical Association (AMA) standards. The therapist will provide treatments and interventions to increase the safety and independence of their patients' desired activities of daily living and functional mobility. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
  • Successfully completed the clinical affiliation requirements prescribed by the school, as well as the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and maintains certification in the (NBCOT).
  • Must have at least two (2) years of professional occupational therapy experience, in the field of geriatrics.
  • Must possess a valid and current license in the District of Columbia.
  • Active CPR Certification (BLS).
  • Required vaccinations/examination: COVID-19, Influenza, PPD-Tuberculosis, Td/Tdap
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
  • Must possess problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' conditions by reviewing their medical history, interviewing them, and observing various tasks.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that have specific activities to help patients work toward their goals.
  • Help patients re-learn and perform daily living tasks,
  • Demonstrate exercises, for example, stretching the joints for arthritis relief—to help relieve patients' pain.
  • Maintain and record patients' activities and progress for patient evaluations.
  • Adjust treatment plans to reflect changes.
  • Abide by all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
