Occupational Therapists provide many wide-ranging services to a variety of people who have been referred by a physician due to a problem with their ability to perform normal activities of daily living (ADLs). This may be due to physical injury, emotional or developmental problems, stroke, elective surgery, disease processes, aging or birth defects, just to name a few. The goal of OT is to maximize the ability of each individual to perform self-care, work and leisure activities to the best of their physical, emotional and cognitive abilities. Ultimately, the goal is also to help people re-learn skills needed to live independent, productive and satisfying lives. By joining this team as an Occupational Therapist, you will support services across both the acute care inpatient hospital unit and the inpatient rehabilitation unit. This will allow you to work with a wide variety of patients, which can lead to advancing your skills and knowledge even further. By taking on this role, you can be a part of special interest groups as well as have the chance to take on other opportunities down the line. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
  • Assess patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.
  • Act as a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.
