About The Position

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will be responsible for identifying patients/customers across various settings including Inpatients, Outpatients, Home Health/Hospice patients, and Sub-Acute Unit patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics. The OT will perform age-specific assessments to gather data relevant to each patient's individual needs, which includes evaluating cognitive, sensory, neurological, musculoskeletal, functional, and physiological status. Based on these assessments, the OT will develop a comprehensive plan of care, perform necessary treatments, assess patients' responses to treatment, and assist with discharge planning. The OT will utilize exercises, equipment, and physical agents to enhance strength, balance, coordination, and range of motion, while also working to decrease pain and restore optimal mobility and functional ability. Education related to the treatment program, disease processes, and injury prevention will be provided to patients, families/caregivers, and other healthcare team members. Depending on the location, the OT may delegate and monitor treatment provided by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants and will coordinate, delegate, and supervise responsibilities assigned to supportive staff such as Rehabilitation Techs and LATs. The OT may also engage in Community Engagement activities that promote healthy lifestyles, preventative medicine, and wellness topics. Participation in operational and performance improvement initiatives within the department is expected, along with maintaining awareness of budgetary and fiscal responsibilities related to wages, overtime, productivity, and continuing education. The OT will ensure that documentation is complete and charges are entered accurately and timely, and will participate in all mandated departmental and organizational educational programs.

Requirements

  • Obtained or eligible for a degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Educational Institution.
  • Master of Occupational Therapy degree preferred.
  • Occupational Therapy Licensed or eligible for Occupational Therapy License in Wisconsin.
  • Current BLS of Health Care Providers certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Physical Medicine, Occupational Therapy Modalities, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Team building skills.

Nice To Haves

  • American Occupational Therapy Association Board Specialty or Certification preferred, but not required.
