About The Position

The Occupational Therapist position at Beach Park School District is a vital role within the Student Services department, focusing on the assessment and treatment of students with various needs. The therapist will be responsible for screening and evaluating students to identify their specific occupational therapy needs. This involves developing long-term goals and objectives tailored to each student's unique requirements. The therapist will work collaboratively with the educational team to create therapeutic interventions and adapt equipment as necessary to support student learning and development. In addition to developing individualized education plans (IEPs), the Occupational Therapist will be responsible for updating IEP goals on a quarterly basis, ensuring that the objectives remain relevant and achievable. The therapist will provide interventions as determined by the IEP conference, which may include direct services, monitoring, and consultation models to effectively deliver therapy to students. It is essential for the therapist to maintain current competencies in practice by attending professional workshops and staying updated on best practices in occupational therapy. The role also includes administrative responsibilities, such as maintaining the schedule for the Director of Student Services and building principals, as well as keeping accurate records of mileage for travel between various school buildings. The Occupational Therapist may also assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Director of Student Services or building principal, making flexibility and adaptability key traits for success in this position.
